Teaching semester:  1st semester

Prerequisite: none

Target skills:

This course aims at providing fundamental knowledge about ambient environments. Topics of study include basic but essential aspects of ambient environments: wireless and mobile networks, sensors, user context and context awareness, context reasoning, interaction, and their applications. At the end of this course, students would have a general vision about the move from distributed computing to pervasive computing.

Program summary:

  • Introduction to ambient environments
  • Use of mobile, wireless, visual, and multi-modal sensor networks in intelligent systems
  • Human-system interaction in ambient environments
  • Distributed and collaborative computing and reasoning
  • Multi-agent systems
  • User context and modeling
  • Applications of ambient intelligence
  • Intelligent handling of privacy, security and trust
